Production planning and detailed scheduling is a tool in APO (Advanced
Planning and Optimization) which takes care of planning and scheduling
considering the capacities of various resources.
SAP PPDS on SAP S/4 HANA is used to create planned orders for
in-house production for all the requirements, optimize the result so that the resources are well
consumed and plan with various variants and yet produce the optimized results. You can use SAP PP/DS for SAP S/4 HANA to plan
critical products, such as products with long replenishment lead times or
products that are produced on bottleneck resources.
This functionality introduces in SAP S/4

were available in SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO). It is not

installation or as an add-on to SAP ERP.
